This service is built for these situations
Bank rejected your account
Mercury, Relay, or Wise pointed to a name mismatch as the rejection reason.
Stripe verification keeps failing
Stripe's OCR is strict — even minor differences (LLC vs. L.L.C.) can fail.
Your LLC changed names recently
You amended Articles of Organization — the EIN record needs to follow.
Passport name doesn't match the SS-4
Less common, but can cause downstream issues at KYC time.
You misspelled your LLC on the original SS-4
Happens. We file the correction with the IRS.
Articles were amended after the EIN was issued
EIN record retains the original name. Updating the IRS is a separate step.
Getting an EIN as a non-U.S. founder is full of small traps
The IRS process wasn't designed with international applicants in mind. Most rejections and multi-month delays come from a handful of avoidable mistakes.
Common pitfalls
What usually goes wrong when filing alone
- "LLC" vs. "L.L.C." vs. "Limited Liability Company" treated as three different names by banks.
- Punctuation in your trade name (comma, ampersand) handled inconsistently across SS-4 and Articles.
- Multiple-word legal names with capitalization differences ("Acme Tech, LLC" vs. "ACME TECH LLC").
- IRS records still show your old name after you amended Articles.
Our approach
How we prevent each of those problems
- Side-by-side comparison of Articles, EIN letter, and bank-requested format.
- IRS correction letter prepared in the proper format with reference to your EIN.
- Sent via the correct IRS channel for your case.
- Updated EIN documentation provided when the IRS confirms the change.
What we actually do for you
Compare and diagnose
We compare your Articles of Organization, EIN confirmation letter, and the format your bank requires — pinpoint exactly what mismatches.
Prepare IRS correction
A formal correction letter is prepared, referencing your EIN and the specific change needed. Sent via the correct IRS channel.
Confirm with bank
Once the IRS updates the record (this usually takes several weeks), we deliver the updated documentation in a format the bank will accept.

Common questions from non-U.S. applicants
If your question isn't here, contact us — we'll answer honestly, even if the answer is 'this isn't a fit for our service.'
How small can a name difference be before it matters?
Smaller than you'd think. In our experience, differences as small as a comma ("Acme Tech LLC" vs. "Acme Tech, LLC") or "L.L.C." vs. "LLC" can fail a bank or payment-platform check, because many compare names character by character.
Why doesn't the IRS just update my name automatically when I amend Articles?
The IRS and your state's Secretary of State are separate systems. Amending your Articles updates the state's record. To update the IRS record (and your EIN confirmation), you need to send the IRS a separate letter.
How long does the IRS take to process a name correction?
Usually several weeks — the IRS replies by mail. You won't receive a new EIN — the EIN itself doesn't change. You'll receive an updated confirmation letter reflecting the corrected name.
Can I just open a new EIN with the corrected name?
No — and you shouldn't. EINs are issued one per entity. If you open a second EIN for the same LLC, you'll create reporting issues that take longer to resolve than the original correction.
