EIN for Amazon
EIN for Amazon Sellers — pass the tax interview, launch the store
If you sell on Amazon U.S. through a U.S. LLC, Amazon's tax interview checks your legal name, EIN and entity type against what the IRS has on file. A mismatch can put the account on hold. We prepare your LLC's SS-4 with that interview in mind.

This service is built for these situations
You're launching an Amazon U.S. store through a U.S. LLC
Private label, wholesale or arbitrage: the LLC needs its own EIN for the seller account.
You're moving your selling to a new U.S. LLC
A new LLC needs its own EIN; an EIN from another business can't be reused.
You're using FBA
Fulfilled-by-Amazon sellers complete the same tax interview, so the LLC details must match.
You sell via FBM
Self-fulfilled merchant accounts also pass through Amazon's tax interview.
You're joining Amazon Brand Registry
Brand-registered sellers need clean entity documentation, EIN included.
Your account is on hold over tax info
Often caused by a name or EIN mismatch, which can usually be corrected.
Getting an EIN as a non-U.S. founder is full of small traps
The IRS process wasn't designed with international applicants in mind. Most rejections and multi-month delays come from a handful of avoidable mistakes.
Common pitfalls
What usually goes wrong when filing alone
- The legal name in the tax interview doesn't match the IRS record exactly, so verification fails.
- The entity type answered in the interview doesn't match how the LLC is classified on the SS-4.
- A foreign owner of a single-member LLC completes a W-9 when the IRS requires a W-8 instead.
- A failed tax interview can put the seller account on hold until it's corrected.
Our approach
How we prevent each of those problems
- Legal name on the SS-4 matches your formation documents and seller account.
- Entity classification recorded correctly on the SS-4, including the foreign-owned LLC entry.
- We explain which tax form generally applies, and refer you to a tax professional for your case.
- Help with Amazon tax-information holds if you're currently flagged.
What we actually do for you
Amazon-aligned filing
We ask which Amazon program you're joining (FBA, FBM, Brand Registry) and prepare your SS-4 with that context in mind.

Can I sell on Amazon U.S. without forming a U.S. LLC?
Yes. Amazon accepts international sellers who complete the tax interview with a Form W-8 and their home-country tax ID. Many founders still choose a U.S. LLC, for example for U.S. banking and payment platforms; whether that suits you is a business and tax decision worth discussing with an adviser.
Which tax form do I give Amazon if my LLC is foreign-owned?
It depends on how the LLC is taxed. A single-member LLC owned by a non-U.S. person is a disregarded entity: under the IRS Form W-9 instructions, the foreign owner provides an appropriate Form W-8 (such as W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E) instead of a W-9, even if they have a U.S. tax number. A multi-member LLC taxed as a partnership is a U.S. person and gives a W-9 with the LLC's EIN. Confirm your case with a tax professional before completing the interview.
How long does Amazon's tax interview take after I get my EIN?
When the legal name, EIN and entity type all match, the interview usually completes quickly. Mismatches can trigger a manual review that takes longer, which is why getting the SS-4 right the first time matters.
Does my seller account name have to match my EIN exactly?
Your Amazon legal business name must match the EIN-holder's legal name (the LLC). Your storefront display name (the brand) can be different. We help you keep these distinctions clean.
Can I use my old EIN from a prior business?
No — EINs are issued to specific legal entities. If your prior business had an EIN, that one belongs to that entity. Your new LLC needs its own EIN, even if you're the sole owner of both.
